Very cool video.
Much more automation here than at Toyota or TOTO. I also noticed that unlike Toyota's philosophy of plants having individual improvement plans, Dell was proud of their global process standardization.
Wonder if this interferes with kaizen. (Here's a kaizen idea for the video for Michael Dell: Learn from Obama and narrate the story yourself)

Unfortunately Dells made-to-order strategy results in delivery times of 5-10 workdays, while I can get - for example - standard Lenovo laptops next day. And several times they have had supply difficulties with popular product lines, resulting in even longer delivery times. An advantage of Dell is that it is easy to order laptops with foreign keyboards.

Funny how Dell calls their servers "the brains" of the factory. Toyota would probably refer to their people as the brains of their factory. We see who is doing better as a result...
