Push vs. Pull Garbage Collection

Leave it to Taiwan to do things a bit differently.  Instead of putting out the garbage for eventual collection by roving garbage trucks, in Taiwan they take the garbage to the trucks.  The trucks operate on timed routes like buses and people congregate at the stops with their garbage.  The ice cream truck jingle is a nice touch.  More efficient?  I guess it depends on your perspective... but not mine!  Near the end there is an interesting comment about reducing waste by segregating food scraps for the pigs.

Definitely Stumbled this post.
I'll be thinking very differently about taking out my garbage each week after seeing that! :)
Nice that Australia also got a mention on the video.
Cheers, Thea

Taiwan has far too many small narrow lanes and streets for a truck to efficiently go door-to-door.
