Oh man... I can't even imagine. Suddenly spending "quality time" with my wife doesn't sound so bad.

What is it with mother-in-laws and TiVo? My mother in-law, who we affectionately call "TiVo" gave me the fodder to my latest blog entry too.

One TiVo is not enough to record all her shows...she needs two VCRs as well. I fell victim to one of her recordings a few days ago while at the house, because she was recording several shows simultaneously, I couldn't change the channel, and had to watch Veronica Mars instead of House.

I didn't mind much, it's a small price to pay for the kind of cooking she can do. Thank goodness for mother-in-laws!

What about the other waste... the waste of "unnecessary inventory". All those episodes of Oprah and Dr Phil were definitely an unnecessary inventory!

You really do have my sympathies, and I confess I do watch Oprah every now and then.

Angie

When my father was very, very sick toward the end of his life, he could not get out of chairs on his own.

One week (or month), my mother's sister came to visit. The two women would turn on Oprah, Dr. Phil, or The View, then decide to go do something else, and leave the room. With the remote control near where they were sitting, outside his reach.

One day, though, they left the phone within his reach. He asked me to come over and save him. It's a 220 mile drive. I seriously considered it on the basis that I would hope someone would rescue me from a similar situation.

You are a saint, Kevin, a saint.
