Bill, excellent thought and great connection to Independence Day (not the nation's birthday, as is commonly reported, but I digress). My ancestors actually fought in the Revolutionary War with the Penna Militia, so this has a significant meaning to me. I also grew up in York, PA, which is also the nation's first capital.

Our manufacturing might has played a part in almost every significant part of our country's history, whether it be the storied contributions of Franklin's press, or lesser known contributions of companies that made munitions during times of war. Without manufacturing, we could not have become the agricultural giants that we did, and still are. And without manufacturing innovations, we would not have made the contributions to both World Wars as we did. The 4th of July is Indepedence Day, an indepedence both driven and enabled by our ability to be self-sufficient, which is provided not only by our men and women in uniform but our men and women with grease under their fingernails. Happy 4th everyone!

Great post Bill. Keep up the Good Work

The Weber grills are still made in Palatine, Illinois apparently:

Glad to see it hasn't been farmed out to another country.

Not only is Weber still in the country, they are doing something about lean to keep it that way. We've even seen some of them in our courses.

So, am I dumb because I bought a Weber Grill in Europe? :-)

(expensive, but so far it's worth it)
